Rules of a Djentleman.
1. Look the part. Dress shirts, pants, shoes and capone hats are not optional.
2. Actually, wear a suit.
3. Play only custom made guitars or other djentlemen's signatures. Adequate brands include: Mayones, Skervesen, Blackmachine, ViK, Ibanez, Strictly 7, Deamoness. DO NOT play a Schecter.
4. The only scale is the chromatic scale.
5. Use Fractal Audio Axe-FX. If you cannot afford a unit, use a Kemper Profiling Amp. If you still can't afford it, use one of Line 6's POD units.
6. When someone points out that your double muting sounds exactly like all other prog metal guitarists nowadays, reply with "be that as it may, my technique is completely different and unique, I developed it myself".
7. Play percussively. Always play percussively.
8. Stay in touch with your spiritual side. Stargazing and thinking about the vastness of space and time are a good way to start.
9. Whenever you practice, ALWAYS try coming up with a new playing technique. As a djentleman you must have at least one unique technique - the more absurd the better.
10. Spend ridiculous amounts of money on gear. This is not optional, you must literally spend all your money on guitar equipment.
(11. Always tell people that you listened to Meshuggah before Catch 33, and that you know all band members personally.)
